10 Most Shocking Revelations From WWE In 2020

7. Roman Reigns Becomes A Paul Heyman Guy

Or should that title be the other way around?

Days removed from paying off SummerSlam's vague tagline, WWE had yet more news concerning Roman Reigns that would continue the biggest conversation in wrestling, and provide further justification behind the company's decision to hold the Payback event just one week later.

It was at the climax of the post-SummerSlam and Payback go-home edition of Friday Night SmackDown that a backstage camera zoomed out to reveal Paul Heyman in the ear of an enigmatic and more aloof 'Big Dog', drawing a shocked pop from the guy that presses the "shocked pop" button in the ThunderDome and the home viewing audience at large.

The huge got huge...erer at Sunday's supercard when Reigns effortlessly became Universal Champion for the second time at the expense of serial losers Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, resulting in Roman's cousin Jey Uso questioning exactly why Reigns had sidled up to Heyman in his time away. That went everywhere that went, and Roman - rather brilliantly - still hasn't answered the question.

Often, he'll b*llock his aide for apparent insolence, to the extent where Heyman is either terrified of the monster he's created or simply relieved to be on his side. It's all anybody ever wanted from the reinvention of two personas that had previously done the same thing for far too long, refreshing two stale acts with one move.
