2. HBK's Comeback

Shawn Michaels versus Triple H was a feud that was always destined to go down at some point. After all, it was the former's sudden, injury-enforced departure in 1998 that paved the way for The Game to step into the role as one of WWE's leading figures (meaning, by extension, it was HBK who had been holding him back all those years).

But we didn't know at the time of Shawn's 2002 miracle recovery that this would be his first port of call. Actually, he seemed to have bigger fish to fry - namely a potential feud against Undertaker, the man who helped put him on the shelf by throwing him, back-first, into a casket at the Royal Rumble four years earlier.

Whatever his plans were, though, he was forced to change them when Triple H decided that he wasn't going to sit idly by and watch his former best friend lap up the spotlight again while he was left waiting in the wings.

It may have been completely predictable that HHH was the one who put Shawn's head through a car window in a CCTV-captured parking lot ambush - by then he'd already attacked him in the ring, after all - but the moment that he cut short their DX reunion with a sudden kick to the gut was something few of us saw coming.
