8. The Wild Card Match (1995)

While WWE would not reuse the Grand Finale Match of Survival idea from 1990, the 1995 event saw another unique match type created in which heels teamed with babyfaces in the first-ever Wild Card Match. The "wild card" idea was simply that "good guys" would partner with "bad guys" in order to survive, but the semi-main event of Survivor Series '95 featured all top names of the time period.

Shawn Michaels captained his team of the debuting Ahmed Johnson, Sycho Sid, and The British Bulldog as they took on Yokozuna, Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon, Owen Hart, and Dean Douglas. On one side, Shawn and Sid had recently finished a feud that began the night after WrestleMania XI and on the other, Razor and Dean had been battling over the Intercontinental title for the past month. Throw in another Shawn vs. Razor, babyface vs babyface showdown and this match could've easily been the match of the night had it not been for some stiff competition (more on that later).

As usual for the time, Michaels stole the show, taking Sid's Powerbomb, a Razor's Edge, Yokozuna's leg drop, and more. The next night on Raw would feature Shawn's worked-shoot collapse while wrestling Owen Hart, and the Heartbreak Kid would not return to action until the 1996 Royal Rumble.
