10 Most Underrated WWE SummerSlam Matches Of All Time

7. Wade Barrett vs. Daniel Bryan - 2011

It's an underrated match because a lot of people forget about it. They were former Nexus teammates a year prior to this and the two best wrestlers of the first season of NXT. Bryan went into this match as the babyface that was holding the Money in the Bank briefcase while Barrett was a heel on the rise. This was at a point in Bryan's career where he was rising up the ranks by putting on the most entertaining matches in the company and winning over the fans. Every time it looked like he was going to stay down, he kept on fighting back with submission holds. I thought the match was over when Bryan had him in the LeBell Lock (now the Yes Lock). Barrett fought out, used his power and hit the Wasteland for the win. The result was surprising a bit because Bryan had the Money in the Bank briefcase. However, they also had to build Barrett up and the thinking was probably that Bryan was going to get put over for the World Title anyway so they might as well use this match to make Barrett look like a star.
