10 New Directions For AEW After Worlds End 2023

8. Killswitch Turning On Christian Cage

MJF Goodbye AEW
AEW

Killswitch won a pre-show Battle Royale to become the brand new number one contender for the TNT Title. Later, Adam Copeland toppled Christian Cage, then the ex-dino tried to muscle in and cash in his contract. Cage stopped that from happening, seized the shot for himself, and won the belt back from Copeland.

Trouble is brewing.

Killswitch was visibly hesitant to lose what he'd worked hard to gain, and he milked the reaction from fans in Uniondale before hanging his head and handing the contract to Christian. The patriarch flashed a wicked smile, then deliberately bumped into his henchman on the ramp.

None of this will go unpunished. It might take AEW a while to get around to it, but the former Luchasaurus will drop Christian and Nick Wayne with a chokeslam at some point over the next few months. Christ knows how All Elite gets to the seemingly inevitable tag reunion between Copeland and Cage from there.
