10 New Directions For WWE After Night Of Champions 2026

4. ‘King’ Oba Coming For Roman Reigns

WWE Night of Champions 2026 Oba Femi King of the Ring
WWE

Options are a recurring theme for WWE coming out of Saturday's PLE. For new King Of The Ring Oba Femi, it'll be either Roman Reigns or Sami Zayn at SummerSlam. No prizes for guessing which route 'The Ruler' would take if he paused to think about it. Beating WWE's alpha male Roman is the one for Oba.

Why wait? Many suspected the company would hold off on this kind of match until WrestleMania 43 at the earliest, but there's really no need to be patient. Femi is hot, hot, hot right now, and it's fair to say that Reigns could use a dynamic challenger just like him heading into SummerSlam.

If Triple H fancies being ultra ambitious, then he could have Femi pull double duty by retiring Brock Lesnar and beating Roman for the World Heavyweight Title on back to back nights. That'd represent one of the strongest pushes this promotion has ever given anybody - it might even top the quick ascent of stars like Kurt Angle and Brock himself.

That's no bad thing. In fact, as DDP used to say, it's a good thing. Oba is quite clearly the future. He's sprinted past rising names like Bron Breakker to become the biggest prospect on WWE's books, and they shouldn't stop shoving Femi into the spotlight whilst the audience is embracing him. Patience schmatience.

You'll be able to cut the tension with a knife when Femi and Roman come nose to nose inside a ring on Raw. That's the kind of big time moment WWE needs heading into SummerSlam.
