10 Predictions For John Cena’s WrestleMania 34 Opponent

5. Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle was repeatedly deployed early in John Cena's career, providing a selection of quality encounters to fool audiences sufficiently that the future leader of the Cenation already belonged in massive main event battles.

Contests in 2003, 2004, and 2005 cemented 'The Champ' in various stages of his rapid progression, with Angle effortlessly able to draw drama from the matches thanks to his own superlative skills.

Over a decade on, and WWE's cautiousness around allowing the Olympic Gold Medallist to make his return is to be commended. Ten years of outstanding matches on a lighter schedule in TNA undoubtedly extended his career, but a litany of substance abuse problems almost ended it entirely.

Should he be permitted to wrestle even once under WWE's banner, the company will presumably want their most reliable performer to keep Kurt healthy and happy. There's no steadier hand in a pressure situation than 'Big Match John'.

Fittingly repaying all of Kurt's hard work early in his career, John could aid Angle on a stage he still so desperately wants to shine on, with a match that could potentially outstrip their best efforts in eras gone by.
