10 Problems With Sheamus As WWE World Heavyweight Champion

10. The Money In The Bank Concept Has Run Its Course

Back in 2005, when Money In The Bank debuted as a match at WrestleMania 21 and Edge lifted the briefcase, it was an exciting and fresh concept that fans and critics embraced. It opened up so many possibilities for cash-ins, title reigns and other storylines. When Edge initially cashed-in on John Cena at New Year's Revolution 2006 and then, later that year, Rob Van Dam announced he€™d be using it for the main event of ECW One Night Stand against John Cena too, it was clear that MITB was going to be a game-changer in WWE.

It€™s now ten years down the line and if we look at the ratio of MITB making wrestlers more successful or less so, it€™s pretty much half and half. For every Edge and Seth Rollins, there€™s a Jack Swagger or Damien Sandow. At WrestleMania 31 when Seth Rollins cashed-in during the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns main event, it appeared to reinvigorate the concept of Money In The Bank. In retrospect, it may have been a good place to end it.

Sadly for Sheamus, he won the briefcase in June and has been carrying it around doing similar job after job just as previous briefcase winners did, which has hurt his credibility in the long run. The concept has run its course and needs to be scrapped, seeing as how these days it's just as likely to do harm to a performer's career as it is to do good.
