1. Vince McMahon Personally Requested Sting vs. Flair
Fans watching the March 26th, 2001 episode of Nitro will note that Ric Flair is wearing a t-shirt during his main event match against Sting. The reason for this is because the 'Nature Boy' was far from being in classic ring shape, and he wasn't alone - Sting was also out of sorts, struggling with injuries at the time. In fact, neither man had planned to be wrestling on the show at all, until a conversation with Shane McMahon revealed that his father, Vince really wanted to see Flair and Sting lock up one more time in WCW, because he'd been such a huge fan of their previous matches and respected both tremendously. It's incredible to think that one of WCW's trademark bouts, Sting vs. Ric Flair nearly never happened on the final Nitro, and that it was Vince McMahon who helped make it go down, because he wanted to enjoy it one last time. That Vinnie Mac, maybe he isn't such a bad guy after all. What do you remember from the final episode of Monday Nitro? What do you think of the real stories listed here?
