10 Reasons Ambrose Vs Rollins Is The New Triple H Vs Michaels
5. Shocking Turn
Triple H and Shawn Michaels have always been closely linked in the business, but it wasn't until the "Curtain Call" in Madison Square Garden in 1996 that it went public they were a unit as part of The Kliq (along with Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). From there, they'd bring their friendship to television as D-Generation X, reeking havoc on anyone and everyone. Their comedic antics such as targeting Mr. McMahon and his family and even at one point WCW made them world renowned and beloved by the fans. Although Michaels' career-ending back injury ended the duo for a few years, they reunited on Raw in July 2002 and it felt like nothing had changed. Their reunion was short-lived, however, as HHH took it upon himself to turn on his former friend, triggering their legendary rivalry that would last almost two years. The Shield is similar to D-Generation X in that sense. They were so consistently well booked throughout their entire run that it was difficult to imagine them parting ways. Sure, they all had bright futures as singles competitors, but their chemistry together was off the charts and there was no real reason to break any of them up at the time. They teased tension earlier this year, but regrouped and went on to dominate WWE for several more months before splitting up in June. Seth Rollins' heel turn came as a major shock to the masses, if only because many expected Dean Ambrose to be the one going rogue. It was a moment that will be remembered as one of the most legitimately shocking happenings in the history of Raw. It also gave us the awesome feud between Rollins and Ambrose that still resonates to this day.
