10 Reasons Brock Lesnar Must Have A Long WWE Title Reign

8. There Is Money In A Rematch With Cena

The greatest pro wrestling angle of all time did not play out in Memphis or Dallas or Atlanta. It did not take place inside Madison Square Garden, Boston Garden or the Omni. No, the greatest wrestling angle ever took place on the silver screen in Rocky III. The title character was the beloved champion, a man so firmly entrenched at the top of the boxing world that it seemed implausible that any man could knock him off the mountaintop. Then along came Clubber Lang, who not only beat Rocky but humiliated him. He knocked Rocky out and proceeded to prove his dominance over the boxing world before being presented with a rematch against Rocky. As everyone knows, the Italian Stallion fought back, regained the title and sent moviegoers home with a happy ending. One option available to WWE Creative is the Rocky III scenario. John Cena was not only beaten at SummerSlam, he was embarrassed and humiliated by a superior performer. For him to get past the mental effects of the loss, he will have to work harder than ever to prepare for an athlete with the skills and power of Lesnar. That is an incredibly easy story for even the most dim witted of the Hollywood rejects that populate the writing staff to craft. More importantly, a story that is that simple to relate to is one that is essentially a license to print money. But it will not work if WWE opts to book it just weeks after the initial match. After taking the beating he did at SummerSlam, it would be completely implausible for Cena to come back and knock off a relatively fresh Lesnar on such short notice. Thus, to maximize the earning potential. WWE would be wise to wait and book the match further down the road, allowing Lesnar to establish himself as an unstoppable champion against other Superstars before turning his attention back to Cena.
