Paul Heyman revealed this week that CM Punk has vowed never to return to wrestling. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, Heyman was emphatic about the subject, "I think it's very much CM Punk's mindset right now that he is driven and determined never to go back and in his mind, if he ever does go back it will be a sign of a failure on his part." That sounds like Punk all over, absolutist and headstrong. You kind of get the impression that Heyman has talked to Punk recently, the rhetoric seemed to indicate a recent conversation. It should also be noted, it isn't just WWE that Punk has ruled out wrestling for, he doesn't want to return to any form of pro wrestling at all. "I think in his heart of hearts CM Punk absolutely has it in his mindset, and his heart, and his soul, and passionately feels 'I will never put on a pair of boots again'" Heyman states. This means that WWE and Punk will never fully acknowledge the legacy they created together. Dave Meltzer reports that the fallout is very acrimonious, with even legal disputes possible. Punk's contract expired in July, but he had left the company in January. The bad feeling over that abrupt exit could now see Punk turned into a modern day Randy Savage. WWE are said to want nothing at all to do with the exiled star. Not that Punk will care. It was his call to leave his contract early, it was his call to whip up all this controversy. He never cared about potential repercussions, which suggests he really doesn't give a damn about ever going back. Here's the ten biggest reasons why CM Punk doesn't care about pro wrestling any more. Ten key factors in his vow to never return to WWE.
