10 Reasons CM Punk's Legal Attack On WWE Was A Mistake

7. The Randy Savage Treatment

We have already witnessed the beginning of Punk being 'Savaged', when WWE whitewashed 'CM Punk' from WWE shop. That was partly in response to Punk's request for WWE to stop selling his likeness, but is also perhaps part of WWE wanting to wash their hands of him. The company could've made good money on things like the 'Best In The World' DVD, but instead they let it go for almost nothing. That says WWE don't care about business in relation to this, instead they just want rid. That policy is likely to extend into other areas in time. WWE will remove Punk from their history and act to dampen his legacy in the business. They pulled a similar move with Macho Man Randy Savage in the mid 90's. McMahon believed Randy had hurt WWF business by convincing Slim Jim advertising to jump ship alongside him to WCW (there's the Stephanie rumour too of course). In response to Randy's perceived move against the WWF, Vince acted to expunge the Macho Man from wrestling history. To this day, Savage is still not in the WWE Hall Of Fame. By writing a threatening letter to the company, CM Punk has probably similarly sent his own legacy up in smoke.
