If there is anything that Kevin Nash will be remembered for, it is his role in the formation of arguably the most popular faction in wrestling history, the New World Order (nWo). In June of 1996, before the internet was a magical place where you could find wrestling spoilers at your fingertips, Scott Hall shocked the wrestling world when he showed up on WCW Monday Nitro fresh off his WWF run as Razor Ramon. Minds were blown. Hall eventually teased a big surprise that turned out to be our boy, Big Kev. What initially played out like an invasion from the WWF turned into one of the greatest stories in wrestling history. At Bash at the Beach 96, Hall and Nash teamed up against Randy Savage, Sting, and Lex Luger with the tease of a third member joining their ranks. Just when it looked like WCWs soldiers were done for, out came Hulk Hogan to save the day. In the mother of all swerves, Hogan dropped the leg on Savage and the nWo was born. Not only did the angle catch every wrestling fans attention; it played an integral role in swinging the ratings of the Monday Night Wars between WCW and WWE. In fact, the night Kevin Nash debuted in WCW was the last night WCW Nitro lost the head-to-head ratings battle to Raw for 84 weeks. Im pretty sure theres a correlation here. While membership to the group ultimately got out of hand and the gimmick was diluted, the popularity of Nash, Hall, and Hogans WWF return as the nWo in 2002 was a testament to how electric the nucleus of the faction truly was. Whether he is inducted by himself as Kevin Nash, as Diesel, or as a member of the nWo, theres no disputing the fact that this man deserves to be honored in the WWE Hall of Fame.
