10 Reasons Why Sting Was Never As Great As We Thought He Was

5. Sting Is Actually NOT A Great Promo

"Whooo!" "It's showtime, folks!" Do we know any other awesome Sting quotes from promos? No. Do we remember that time where Sting "said" more by carrying a baseball bat and pointing it at people than opening his mouth? Absolutely. Say what you will about Eric Bischoff, but one of the most important things he knew in WCW was that Sting didn't need to speak to be effective. The key to Sting is still the same as it was in 1984: physical charisma. Put a microphone in Sting's hands, and he just sounds sorta generic, like a star, but not a superstar. Do note that the more Sting has spoken since 1997, the less of a top draw he has been.
