10 Reasons Why Sting Was Never As Great As We Thought He Was

4. Seth Rollins Is Not The Best Opponent For Sting

Gotta really be feeling for Seth Rollins these days. On one hand, he's fresh off of a stint as a double-champion in WWE, an honor bestowed on Rollins because he's so damned good at doing exactly what's been asked of him. However, when you know that Seth can have athletic wrestling contests like the type of matches John Cena had with Kevin Owens, the uber-athletic Rollins is stuck having very pedestrian classic pro wrestling matches versus Sting. Rollins isn't the best opponent for Sting at this point of Sting's career. WWE has finally figured out Rollins' best role, and clearly sees him as this CM Punk-meets-Shawn Michaels hybrid. However, he's learning how to fill this role on the job, and really is like 33% of the way to really embodying it to perfection. Rollins bumping for Sting is fine. However, he doesn't really have the grasp yet on also credibly executing the simple offensive moves required to give Sting the credibility, for this generation, that he needs in the ring to have a fighting chance at excelling as a championship contender.
