10 Sleeping Giants WWE Refuse To Push

The 'E' stands for 'emasculated'.

In case you weren't aware, the term 'Sleeping Giant' refers to an entity which has the potential to be extremely powerful, but has yet to show the true range of its ability.

When it comes to the world of professional wrestling - or more specifically WWE - that phrase can be used to describe an individual who has the makings of a serious big name attraction. We just haven't seen them put in a position to prove what a commodity they could be.

A quick glance at the ridiculous talent currently signed to Vince McMahon's company is enough to make every wrestling organisation on the planet a tad jealous. But, why sign the stars of tomorrow from all over the world if you're not going to strap a rocket to their backs and seriously try to build your next batch of global sensations?

It's almost become impressive just how quickly WWE turn an exciting prospect into yet another faceless 'superstar' these days, and they wonder why the god awful ratings show no signs of seriously improving?

Wake up a few of these 'Sleeping Giants', Vince, and let the good times roll.

10. Mustafa Ali

In terms of natural babyfaces currently available in WWE today - Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio aside - is there a bigger open goal in the company than Mustafa Ali?

He's stupidly talented between the ropes, dresses like the love-child of Iron Man and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero, and he was an actual police officer in Chicago for four years before signing with WWE. He literally used to fight crime for a living and this company have still found a way to make him feel like 'just another guy'!

It did look like WWE were about to try something different with Ali in 2019 when he started to show up in vignettes saying he needed to 'rewrite his story'. Yet, before long the star was booted off our screens once again and we haven't seen him wrestle on television in 2020.

Every time Ali is given a chance to show what he can do in the ring and on the mic, he seems to resonate with the paying audience. With genuine faces so hard to come by in the modern era, it's incredible to think that WWE still don't see him as a legitimately marketable underdog.
