10 Terrible WWE Main Events One Tweak Away From Excellence

3. The Undertaker Vs Faarooq (King Of The Ring 1997)

Why it's terrible: It's all sorts of wrong, this one.

As leader of a crumbling original iteration of the Nation Of Domination, Faarooq was a little too distracted with internal affairs to properly concentrate on the fact that he had to try and beat The Undertaker. This manifested in him angrily intending to be the first black WWE Champion amidst furious rants about the racism buried deep within the organisation.

And what of the Champion? Trapped by a devastating secret that ended up being the survival of his brother Kane from the house fire that killed his parents, Undertaker was doing the heel bidding of Paul Bearer despite being the stonewall babyface fans could rely on during a time of tweeners on either side of the United States/Canada border.

Hefty stuff, right? Must have fed really well into the match, right? Dead wrong. Dead as The Undertaker himself dead.

One Tweak: Goddamn bells and goddamn whistles, this is entertainment, pal. Where are the run-ins, the twists, the turns? Ahmed Johnson decks Undertaker at the end and The Nation potter listlessly about in keeping with the dull hum that soundtracks this utter stinker, but at absolutely no point does the nascent chaos common for the era actually show itself.
