10 Things GFW Can Do To Make An Impact On Wrestling
2. CM Punk
With his long-term UFC future up in the air, Phil Brooks’ brave foray into MMA could be coming to an end. If his next fight is unsuccessful, the “Straight Edge Superstar” may be shown straight to the door of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
While it’s true he could find a payday in Bellator should that happen, Punk’s name value in WWE will only take him so far in the MMA world, unless he shows promise of becoming a successful fighter. At 38 years old with mounting injuries and time not on his side, the likelihood of that is becoming increasingly unlikely.
A return to wrestling would be the best option for Punk if his next fight doesn’t go his way; however, his history with WWE is well documented. To say his split with WWE was less than amicable is an understatement and a return to wrestling would logically lead fans to believe he would consider his options elsewhere.
If GFW really wanted to make headlines, signing CM Punk would be just the ticket. Whatever the cost may be, the return would more than make up for it. Anthem would do well to consider Punk as an option if they are serious about keeping their position as the number two wrestling company in the US.
