10 Things Surprisingly Shorter Than WWE WrestleMania 33

8. Swimming The English Channel

This next entry will really make you feel lazy.

On September 8, 2012, Australian Trent Grimsby broke the record for the fastest swim of the English channel, coming in at six hours 55 minutes. That’s five minutes under the WrestleMania run time. Furthermore, he wasn’t the first person to swim the channel in under seven hours; previous record holder Petar Stoychev swam the channel in six hours 57 minutes.

To be fair this is a rare achievement, only accomplished by some of the very best long distance swimmers in the world. Trent Grimsby took home a silver at the 2009 World Aquatics Championship and won the 2012 FINA Grand Prix Marathon Series. Stoychev, the previous record holder, is inducted the International Marathon Swimmers Hall of Fame and competed at four Summer Olympic Games: 2000 in Sydney, 2004 in Athens, 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London.

Therefore this is not an achievement that could be completed by anyone with a 200 meter school swimming certificate. However, setting a world record is definitely a more productive way to spend your time then watching seven hours of wrestling.
