He was, however, supposed to become WCW's answer to HBK.

According to Jericho, that's what Eric Bischoff told him when he first signed on the dotted line for the company in 1996. Excited, the incoming blonde bombshell asked who he'd be working with. "Brad Armstrong", came the reply. That didn't do much to inspire hope.

Jericho told Steve that he respected Brad's in-ring abilities, and always thought he was a stand up dude, but Armstrong wasn't exactly a top star on Nitro every week. The newcomer had been hoping to work a program with Sting, or someone like that, instead - Bischoff thought differently.

Conrad Thompson needs to ask Eric about this on the pair's weekly '83 Weeks' podcast. Bisch could shoot Jericho's claims down. Or, perhaps he'll add further context to what he meant by 'WCW's Shawn Michaels'. Did Eric only see the blonde hair, long tights and high-flying style, or did he see something more in Jericho?
