10 Things We Learned From John Cena On Stephanie McMahon's WWE Show
7. There’s A Pic Of Brodie Lee At His Gym
Admittedly, Cena has pictures of many wrestlers who have worked out at his Hard Nock’s South gym. Aforementioned footage of New Day, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and others working out there was shown on Stephanie's ESPN show, but one photo sticks out from the rest. It showed ex-WWE star Luke Harper, best known today as Brodie Lee, during a visit to John's sweatbox.
He passed away in 2020 whilst under contract to AEW, and that broke countless hearts. The entire wrestling world came together and mourned his loss. It seemed so cruel on a young family that Brodie was ripped away suddenly, but tributes poured in from everyone regardless of which promotion they were working for.
The pic of Lee was hidden in amongst a collection of other photographs Cena has up in his gym. There's one of him pressing weight high above, a retro snap of Hulk Hogan with Muhammad Ali, Wendi Richter, Cyndi Lauper and Liberace (reflecting when he started to become a fan of wrestling), another of Rollins mid-workout and more. It’s pretty cool that Brodie is immortalised in John Cena’s gym.
It's also a bittersweet reminder of how time changes everything.
Look towards the bottom right and you might just be looking at Bray Wyatt goofing off with a viking helmet. Maybe. It's harder to make out exactly who that is, but it could well be Bray. He was friendly with John, and surely visited the gym at some point before his own passing. An original War Raider, perhaps! Erik and Ivar would be proud.
