10 Things We Learned From Samoa Joe On Talk Is Jericho

6. Arn Anderson Was His Childhood Favourite

Even though Joe would watch WWF/WWE programming regularly with his father, he also began to seek out his own tapes and footage to broaden his horizons. This led him to discover the work of Arn Anderson in WCW, and Joe quickly fell in love with the Four Horsemen member's in-ring style.

Adoring Arn's "explosive movement" and how his Spinebuster finisher came out of nowhere to brutally slay opponents, the impressionable young fan also loved the fact that Anderson looked like he was no stranger to rough brawls and a fighting lifestyle.

For this reason, 'The Enforcer' went on to become his childhood favourite, but he wasn't alone.

Enjoying the Polynesian look of Ricky Steamboat at first, Joe also went on to idolise 'The Dragon' for his actual wrestling. From those two examples, it's pretty clear that the Samoan developed an affinity for those with supreme in-ring skills, rather than focusing solely on bombastic, over-the-top characters or mic work from a young age.
