It's clear from listening to Aleister Black talk on the E&C podcast that he's always been a thoughtful, deep person. None of his answers about wrestling are short, and they're all punctuated with tangents that show his creative imagination. According to Black, this is not accidental.

Growing up as an angry, anxious kid in the Netherlands, Black viewed pro wrestling as a respite for his mind. It gave him a "road to walk", more so once he laced up a pair of boots and started training to become a wrestler himself. Since then, he's used wrestling as a place of "solace" in his life.

An awful lot of wrestling fans will be able to identify with that.

Christian loved this idea, and he told Black that such a willingness to wear his heart on his sleeve is what makes Aleister such an appealing figure for young wrestling fans today. Hearing those words from a legend like Christian must have been wonderful for Black.
