8. He Battled For Custody Of His Son In A Ladder Match

Only in pro wrestling. That's the best way to explain how Rey Mysterio had a feud with Eddie Guerrero over the custody of Rey's son Dominick. The story was that Eddie was actually Dominick's dad with some other woman, but he was all messed up on drugs so Rey and his wife Angie raised Dominick as their own. The reason that Eddie mentioned it was because he was unable to beat Rey in all the matches they had, so he felt like he had to go that next level of crazy heel to reveal a dark secret from Rey's past. Rey sold it like it was a legit thing. All of this led to a Ladder Match at SummerSlam 2005 with Rey fighting for the custody of his son while Eddie would have "won" Dominick if he won the match even though the poor kid wanted to be with Rey. The match ended when Eddie's wife Vickie (who we didn't really know at that point) prevented him from winning because she didn't want him to ruin Dominick's life. The whole storyline was a work of course. Dominick really is Rey's son, but they did a lot of promos trying to make it seem like something that was really personal. It was one of the most bizarre angles in wrestling history, so we don't think WWE is too proud of a "win the rights to a child in a wresting match" story they did for it.
