10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rey Mysterio
7. He Broke Undertaker's Orbital Bone In 2010
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP90t1W_Z_w You might recall the "vegetative state" storyline that WWE used to explain The Undertaker's absence in 2010. They said that somebody beat him up and injured him to the point that he was in a vegetative state. That's not what really happened, of course. During a match with Rey Mysterio on the May 28, 2010 edition of Smackdown, Undertaker was sent into the turnbuckle and he was stunned in the ring. Mysterio went to the top rope and hit a seated senton move that he had done so many times. It's the move where he jumps onto a standing opponent and his groin is placed around that person's neck. The opponent lands on his back while Mysterio lands on his feet on top of him. This time when Mysterio hit the move he landed right on Undertaker's face. It led to Undertaker grabbing at his nose immediately because he knew something was wrong. Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone, a broken nose and a concussion. He was out of action for a few month, which is why WWE came up with that "vegetative state" story. Undertaker fought through the injuries to win the match as he was scheduled while he was bleeding profusely from the nose. It's pretty crazy that a 300 pounder like Undertaker could get hurt by a 175 pounder like Mysterio on a move like that, but it's all about how Mysterio landed. It was an accident and Mysterio wasn't punished because he actually went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion less than a month after this.
