10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Dusty Rhodes
5. Cody Wasn't Close To Him As A Child
Both men would become closer as the years rolled on, but according to Cody himself, he was really quite distant towards his father during his formative years. A lot of this can be explained by the fact that Dusty was away from home a lot, which meant he likely didn't get to spend all that much time with his young son, certainly not as much as his older brother Dustin, who would wrestle with his dad. It's heartening to see pictures like the one above, as Cody looks on eagerly at a father giving him advice. It's a quiet moment, the type of which Cody has said he wished he could have experienced as a kid, but at least both he and Dusty made up for lost time as adults. There's no doubt that WWE will want to pay tribute to Dusty Rhodes in some way, and deservedly so. It seems impossible to imagine that Cody and Dustin won't be involved in that to an extent, but let's hope the company don't try and paint over history, especially considering the story of Cody feeling estranged from his father is one the promotion have told themselves.
