10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rey Mysterio
1. Dominick
On the subject of Eddie Guerrero, him and Mysterio met in the ring on countless occasions throughout their careers, wrestling each other 100 times between 1993 and 2005. Their WCW Halloween Havoc '97 bout is rightly considered a classic, but while the bulk of their best work together came on American soil, their last major feud was pure WrestleCr*p material, as it involved the duo battling for custody over Rey's real-life son, Dominick.
The story started with Guerrero claiming himself as the kid's biological father. Eddie was having trouble raising him as a baby, so he left him with Rey and his wife, but eventually decided that he wanted Dominick back. Thus, Guerrero had his lawyers draw up the relevant papers, then wrestled Mysterio for custody at SummerSlam 2005.
Mysterio won, then defeated Eddie in a subsequent steel cage match, ending the feud. A complete mess from start to finish, the storyline had little merit aside from match quality. The idea of two spandex-clad grapplers warring for custody of a child is ridiculous enough, but poor Dominick looked terrified throughout, and it stands shamefully among WWE's many grossly on-the-nose attempts at portraying a serious issue.
