Booker T had apparently been talking to those close to him about retiring for years. The Book was a fourteen year veteran by 2003 and had plenty of miles on the clock. Besides, he'd done a lot in wrestling, probably more than he ever dreamed possible. But it wasn't a sense of fulfilment or wear and tear that made Booker serious about stepping away from the squared circle. Booker's primary motivator was a longing to break into television and movie work. Booker gave an interview to The Sun's website in June where he revealed that he had six months left on his contract. Once that was up, he intended to sign a one year extension before retiring. It didn't exactly turn out that way. Booker stayed with WWE until 2007 before moving on to TNA (where he further tried to get into acting). But he was apparently quite serious about it in 2003. Booker certainly showed he could act in his segments with Goldust and promos during the Triple H feud. But, like many in wrestling, Booker saw that he had more left in the tank and could make more money for him and his family.
