10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2007

10. Carlito Wanted To Quit (But Was Talked Into Staying)

The always-outspoken Carlito had a few choice words for WWE, and their creative department, in early 2007. Carlito had not been happy in the company for a while and it's not hard to see why. He was brought in with a lot of hype, won the United States Championship from John Cena in his first match and then just kind of floundered in the mid-card for a while. Carlito's career had slid so far that he was left off of the WrestleMania 23 card. Speaking to the Ottawa Sun newspaper in March, Carlito decided to vent his frustrations, saying:
I'm out of Wrestlemania. Apparently, they had to make space for Kane versus Khali and Melina versus Ashley. How can I be at Wrestlemania? If I politic and kiss a**, I should make it [...] I'm not going to cry or be bitter, there's always next year ... and I don't want to get fired. But they're showing disrespect by not having Ric Flair at Wrestlemania and even more disrespect by not having Carlito there
He also revealed that he absolutely hated working babyface. Carlito might not have wanted to get fired, but by the end of the year he did want to leave the company. Come Autumn Carlito had handed in his notice to the company. Vince McMahon had to talk Carlito into staying. He didn't want another star to leave for TNA since Booker T had just went there following his firing. Carlito got a renewed push and, hey, wouldn't you know it - he was on the WrestleMania card the next year.
