What a bunch of absolute teases.

WWE's creative team knew exactly what they were doing when things started to get frosty between then-GM Steve Austin and Bill Goldberg throughout 2003. On the 12 May episode, both megastars exchanged intense stares, and the marketing department probs thought they had a licence to print money on their hands.

Nope, because 'Stone Cold' had retired. Why even tease that a match could happen then?! Sure, Austin had called time on his career following another scorcher vs. The Rock at 'Mania XIX, but it felt like a disgraceful waste to have Goldberg in the promotion without wrestling a man he'd been compared to for years.

This was even more annoying when binging than the Vince vs. Kane nudge that went nowhere. Austin vs. Goldberg had been the subject of so many articles in magazines when they were in rival companies. Now, despite being in the same place, they still weren't going to have a wrestle.
