While Vince eventually struck gold with WWE Studios, some of his other ventures didn't pay off so lucratively. In 1990, McMahon launced the World Bodybuilding Federation as a subsidiary of Titan Sports and a competitor to the International Federation of BodyBuilders. The promotion failed to find its footing, with guest competitors such as Lou Ferrigno and WWF Superstar Lex Luger failing to participate for one reason or another, and after two years, the promotion disbanded. That wouldn't be McMahon's last foray into outside promotions, as 2000 would see the dawn of the infamous XFL. A competitor to the National Football League, the XFL was a far more brash, in-your-face style product.
