10 Times Wrestlers Fooled You Into Thinking They Were Someone Else

9. Edge & Christian As Los Conquistadors

Los Conquistadors were a little known tag team in 2000. Having been regarded as jobbers during their initial run in the 1980s, the reappearance of the golden luchadors seemed puzzling at worst and random at best. Nevertheless, this was the Attitude Era, and the fans stuck with the programme for the pay-off. They were not disappointed.

Targeting the Hardy Boyz and displaying moves eerily familiar to a team that reeked of awesomeness, Los Conquistadors were clearly the nerdish heel duo of Edge and Christian under the masks. However, in a clever twist, E&C would also appear with the Conquistadors in backstage segments to add an element of doubt in the minds of fans.

When Edge and Christian - as The Conquistadors - defeated The Hardy Boyz for the Tag team Titles, the master plan was to then hire local talent, get them to wear the hoods and do the J-O-B for them in the middle of the ring - thus switching the titles over to Edge and Christian legitimately.

However, through some Hardy Boy chicanery, Matt and Jeff donned the costumes themselves and defeated Edge and Christian. Much to the chagrin of Edge and Christian, Commissioner Mick Foley declared the Hardyz as Tag Champs in the fallout.
