10 Times WWE Cruelly Teased What We Really Wanted

4. HBK Teases The Hitman And A Full Heel Turn In Montreal

There's no denying that Shawn Michaels did some of his very best work as a despicable heel in the years pre-babyface comeback in 2002.

So it was something of a pleasant surprise to see the former WWE Champion revert back to his dastardly ways in the lead-up to his match against Hulk Hogan at SummerSlam 2005. But this character rejuvenation sadly wouldn't last, with 'Mr. WrestleMania' quickly flipping back onto the side of good in the wake of his loss to 'The Hulkster'.

However, before all that came to pass, it did seem as though Michaels was set to truly immerse himself in this loathsome persona for longer than a few weeks when he cut a rather infamous promo in Montreal.

HBK would go on to sing a, well, altered version of the Canadian national anthem. But then, erupting the crowd in a way rarely seen before, Bret Hart's theme song was suddenly pumped into the arena, only for Michaels to laugh in the faces of those who actually thought they were set to see their beloved 'Hitman'.

In one compelling promo, WWE teased a heel and confrontation for the ages, delivering neither by the time the dust had settled a week or so later.
