In one of the longest-running wrestling sagas in recent memory, rumours that Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns would be reprising their 2015 roles for WrestleMania 34 started making the rounds just a few weeks after WWE had wrapped up last year's Show of Shows.

With so much time to process this news, we've already been through all the classic stages of grief, beginning with the initial period of denial. Perhaps Dave Meltzer has got this one wrong, we told ourselves. He gets things wrong sometimes, right? Plans change?

The closer we got to the event, however, the more inevitable it became that this was what WWE officials were gearing towards. From Samoa Joe to Braun Strowman, Lesnar just kept mowing down everyone in his path, with Roman kept a worrying distance from him the whole time. Sure enough, the nightmare morphed depressingly into reality in February when The Big Dog sealed his shot at the Universal Championship with victory at Elimination Chamber.

Meltzer was right all along, and you sent him those abusive messages on Twitter for nothing.
