9. Yokozuna (Vs. Hulk Hogan - WrestleMania IX)
If Backlund felt short-changed with his seven day title reign, imagine how Yokozuna felt when he was told his first run with the belt would end two minutes after he won the damn thing!
WrestleMania IX is seen as a low point in the PPV's storied history, and its conclusion plays a large part in fuelling that perception. After Yokozuna cheated his way to victory over Bret Hart in an underwhelming main event, Hulk Hogan charged down the aisle and promptly squashed Yoko in 90 seconds flat. This was done to set up a Hart-Hogan title match at SummerSlam but Hogan allegedly got cold feet at putting Hart over and instead opted to leave the company altogether, dropping the belt back to Yokozuna at King of the Ring on his way out.
Surprisingly, despite Hogan's selfish behaviour things actually worked out well for everyone involved. Yoko got to enjoy a nine month run as champion, Bret got his big win at WrestleMania X to reclaim the belt and Hogan would eventually go on to transform the entire industry as part of the nWo at WCW.
If only Hogan's selfishness was always so productive...
