10 Times WWE Rewrote Its History Books

Some fans have been critical of WWE's efforts to remove all trace of Chris Benoit from its history, but you can't really blame them.

And not blaming them, incidentally, is probably exactly why they don't want to be associated with their former World Heavyweight Champion's now-tainted name.

In the weeks and months that followed that fateful night in 2007, management faced difficult questions from the media about internal wellness protocol - and they won't want to re-open that discussion any time soon.

It's awkward to try and erase his wrestling footprint, of course. The Canadian won the Royal Rumble in 2004, and went on to win the world title in WrestleMania XX's main event. The stage-managed confetti moment that followed looked set to go down in history, too, but now it must be forgotten.
