WWE Raw may not have been up to fans' standards, with Triple H beginning his reign of terror. Fortunately, though, they found their reprieve on SmackDown, which exceeded expectations with an embarrassment of wealth all throughout their mid-card.

Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Edge, Chris Benoit, and Kurt Angle could all meet each other on any given Tuesday night, no matter if it was in singles or tag team capacity and light up the night. At that point, Raw may have had Sports Entertainment but the best wrestling was all on the blue brand.

To make things even better, SmackDown had more than just the 6. It also had WWE's fledgeling cruiserweight division, full of wrestlers like Tajiri and Billy Kidman who were able to work a faster and more high flying style. Meanwhile, the top prospects of the next generation were all coming into their own, each one, John Cena, Batista, Shelton Benjamin, and Randy Orton, all making their debuts on SmackDown to show what Ruthless Aggression was all about.

Putting the cherry on top of everything was Brock Lesnar, prime Brock Lesnar, lean Brock Lesnar, the Brock Lesnar that could whip around the Big Show and work matches at mach-speed.

Thanks to these wrestlers and the year they had on SmackDown, the Ruthless Aggression era as a whole established itself for years to come.
