6. No Way Out (2009)
The sinister heel incarnation of Edge was always one that fans loved to hate, despite their respect for the man as a performer. In 2009, the vicious side of him was shown during the last ever No Way Out pay-per-view on February 15. Early in the show, Edge was eliminated from the WWE Title Elimination Chamber bout by Jeff Hardy, rolled up in a pinning predicament after only two short minutes. There was a reason for the embarrassment, but Edge would have his retribution on the fans later on. Before the show-closing World Heavyweight Title Chamber match, the Canadian attacked Kofi Kingston and replaced him in the match. He'd then go on to pin Rey Mysterio and win the championship. It was a tremendous piece of booking, one WrestleMania XXV couldn't come close to topping. Aside from The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels classic, there was an overwhelming sense that things should have been better at 'Mania. A battle between Jeff and Matt Hardy proved disappointing, as did John Cena's Triple Threat against Edge (ironically) and The Big Show. Worse yet, the main event bout between Randy Orton and Triple H was tepid at best. Where did that incendiary excitement from No Way Out disappear to?
