Leaving shortly after the 1997 Survivor Series to join WCW, Hart wanted to leave with his head held high, but McMahon was worried he'd show up on WCW television with the WWF Title, feeling that could ruin his company. This all resulted in the ending to the title match between Hart and Shawn Michaels, one of the most shocking moments in pro wrestling history. As detailed in the documentary, 'Wrestling With Shadows', it's the behind the scenes footage which has caused the most talk amongst fans, not necessarily McMahon calling for a premature bell to ring when HBK had Hart locked in his own Sharpshooter hold. Not only did Hart spit on McMahon in front of the cameras, he also punched him pretty hard backstage, and viewers of the film were treated to an unsteady Vince walking down the hallway, having just been hit hard. It was fascinating footage, and remains utterly essential to this day for people who want the full story from that fateful night in Canada.
