Fans of the Attitude Era will forever remember Jeff Hardy as the crazy half of the much-loved duo, The Hardy Boyz. However, those that stuck with the WWE product through into the PG era of 2008 onwards, would also remember Hardy's refreshing push as a main event solo act.

'The Charismatic Enigma' had long been a beloved addition to the WWE roster, however, his rise up the card had been stunted by his demons outside the ring. Nevertheless, his matches with likes of The Undertaker for the WWE Championship in 2002 were proof enough that he could hang with the best.

After his first stint in TNA had ended in 2006, Hardy once again found himself back on Raw. After several IC Title reigns in 2007, Hardy was set to win the MITB Ladder Match at WrestleMania XXIV; however, he once again fell foul to his demons and was suspended instead.

Upon his return, Hardy moved to SmackDown, got his act together and was finally given the main event push the fans had been clamouring for. After several opportunities, Hardy won the WWE Championship at Armageddon 2008, defeating Triple H and Edge for the privilege.

Despite his reign only lasting a month, Hardy's victory was viewed as vindication for the troubled superstar and a just reward for his bodily sacrifice over the years.
