10 Unmissable UFC Fights To Watch In October
2. Chris Weidman Vs. Dominick Reyes
It's been awhile since Chris Weidman stepped into the Octagon, but when he does so next it'll be in a completely new weight class. The former UFC middleweight champion is moving up to 205lb to take on undefeated prospect, Dominick Reyes, in a fight that could determine the next contender for Jon Jones' light heavyweight title.
Although it's great to get a new top contender in the mix, Weidman has become a bit of a forgotten man over the last 11 months. This is mostly down to injury, but also partially due to the fact that he's 1-4 in his last five fights inside the Octagon. There are questions as to whether or not he can still take a shot, but he's gone against some heavy-handed 185lbers over the last few years.
While Reyes isn't the most brutal puncher in the weight class, he does possess some decent knockout power in his hands. It's certainly enough to make Weidman respect Reyes when they're trading. Could this mean that Weidman abandons his love of striking and reverts back to the savage grappler that he was when he first jumped onto the scene? We'll find out in a few weeks.
