10 Ways TNA/Impact Was Great For The Wrestling Business

6. X-Division

Professional wrestling has never been so widely acrobatic before, and we might have TNA to thank for that.

While WCW crowned their cruiserweights king of entertaining, flippy matches, TNA gave that credit to any wrestler who wished to join the fun. The X-Division was essentially TNA's answer to how they'd introduce their own cruiserweight division. It's just about the same thing, but without the whole requirement of being under 225lbs. This is a very slight change, but if you look at the wrestling world today, its influence is massive.

Can you think of any wrestler like Samoa Joe before Samoa Joe was around? A massive dude who's billed as an agile technician and submission specialist didn't exist before TNA allowed Joe to be just that.

Professional wrestling as a whole always featured musclebound powerhouses in their main event, but the modern era is way more focused on in-ring skill now. Guys like Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt might not have ever gotten as far as they did were it not for TNA showing off how the bigger boys could move.
