10 Ways To Make WWE's Brand Split More Compelling

1. Give Triple H Control Of SmackDown

Triple H Stephanie

Okay. Just for starters. No, we're not doing Hunter vs. Stephanie. That would be incredibly stupid. Instead, have Steph turn face on Raw, or have Mick Foley, or Daniel Bryan, or William Regal or even Shane McMahon take over the show. Simply, her evil character must go.

In addition to that, Vince McMahon should give Triple H control of SmackDown off-air, and let him run it as an authority figure as well. The good kind. The Jack Tunney kind who only shows up once every few months to make a major announcement. More importantly, though, Hunter should step in behind the scenes to make SmackDown feel more like NXT, so that it feels different from Raw.

The first brand split started off on a better note than this one, because we had Ric Flair in control of Raw. The company at least went to the effort of making a non-McMahon in charge of the show, and gave us a bit of a storyline reason as to why. We need someone else that fans can believe in as an owner, and that person should be Hunter (actually Paul Heyman would be even better, but I'm trying to be somewhat realistic here!).

Fans know that Triple H is largely in charge of NXT. Vince could step in at anytime he wanted to and shut the whole thing down, but from a day-to-day standpoint, Hunter is the one in charge. The company should go a step further and have him become the on-air leader of SmackDown.

Fans don't want to boo him at this point of his career, as they respect his work in developmental too much. If he brought that style of booking over to the blue brand, it would actually make the shows feel different. This would also accomplish letting someone else prepare to take over the company from Vince. That is something that becomes more important with each passing year. Plus, it would finally give Vince some actual competition! If he thinks he's still the best wrestling booker out there, then he can go out and prove it.

WWE needs to do something drastic to make us finally believe into this Raw vs. SmackDown nonsense. Having two distinct voices behind the shows may really be the only real way to make it happen.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
