10 Ways WWE Can Appeal To The Teenage Demographic
4. YouTube 'Celebs'
If WWE want to capture a teen audience then, unfortunately, they should be courting and using YouTube ‘Celebrities’. For anyone unsure, these are just normal people, usually young, who have a giant following on YouTube, often millions of subscribers, and are hugely influential amongst the younger generation.
These people also go by the name ‘Social Media Influencers’ and are able to advertise or bring a massive amount of attention to a product through their social media accounts and followers. It is an unfortunate truth that these kids on YouTube are bigger celebrities to teens than actual celebrities. They know their names, their history, they argue with each other over who is better and they will reference in jokes like people would say catchphrases from their favourite show back in the day.
Even better, because these YouTube people aren’t actually celebrities, most would be a damn sight cheaper and would probably be more willing to get involved and take risks. Most are likely to be under the age of 25 and are/were probably wrestling fans so it would be pretty easy to get them on board. Bringing in the right YouTube personality, such as KSI, could potentially lead 20 MILLION people to watch the next episode of Raw - and that’s just his YouTube following.
