10 Ways WWE Tried To Rewrite Wrestling History

9. The Miz As A Wrestlemania Main Eventer

The Miz Mic Going on last as the legitimate Wrestlemania main event is the biggest honour a pro wrestler can achieve. Think of some of the greats who have closed the annual classic as Champion - Undertaker, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels ... and The Miz? It went down at Wrestlemania 27. In his DVD 'The Best in the World', CM Punk called it "the ultimate insult" to see The Miz going on last as the Mania main event. It was more a part of a bigger long term angle between The Rock and John Cena, but the fact is Miz was picked ahead of anyone else to close Wrestlemania as WWE Champion. Was he worthy of the honour? Well, he was a decent heel act, ok in the ring, ok on the mic - but absolutely not worthy of having this spot. WWE now view it as an embarrassment that the history books read that The Miz as WWE Champion beat John Cena in a Wrestlemania main event. The company rarely mention the fact that Miz has this monumental win, despite the credibility it would add to his non-existent stock as a performer. A decade from now, Wrestlemania 27 will barely be touched on by the company. It was a dark day in Mania's history. Miz has endured a huge fall from grace. He went from the Mania main event to being a guy who rarely even gets on weekly TV. Mike Mizanin is now in a career limbo in that he can't get over as a face or a heel - he is just genuinely disliked as an overall performer. The man who beat John Cena and ended Wrestlemania 27 as WWE Champion will eventually be redacted from the WWE completely.
