Extreme Championship Wrestling was as famous for athletic in-ring action as it was for blood-and-guts violence, and two of the most technically talented competitors on the late 90s roster were Lance Storm and Chris Candido. As feuding tag team partners, the two worked together in every way imaginable, and one night in Monaca, Pennsylvania, the result was an unfortunate accident.

Storm and Candido were the defending ECW Tag Team Champions, but they were still at each other's throats -- so as their title defense opened, Candido slapped Storm across the face. Unfortunately, he also caught his ear, popping the Canadian's eardrum in the process. A burst eardrum is a painful injury, and it's all the more unpleasant when the recipient has to wrestle a full match afterwards. Candido and Storm retained the titles, but that wasn't the end of it.

After the bout, Candido and Storm had an impromptu contest -- against each other. If a tag match wasn't bad enough, Storm had to do a singles match immediately after. He finished the bout, wrestling for nearly 40 minutes with a popped eardrum due to a freak accident.
