10 Weirdest Lucha Underground Moments (So Far)

2. Vampiro Grunts His Way Through Match Commentary

El Rey Network

The team of Vampiro and Matt Striker calls the matches in Lucha Underground. They make for a great odd couple duo, mixing Striker's pop culture-heavy style and deep knowledge of wrestling history with Vampiro's insights into Mexican culture, in-ring experience, and all things gothic and black magic.

Normally, Vamp's commentary ranges from engaging to Bray Wyatt-rambling-at-a-family-barbecue. But for one match, Vamp did little more than make grunting noises. It weirded us out, weirded Matt Striker out, and made for not particularly entertaining TV.

To be fair, Striker's kamikaze commentary can be hit or miss. Sometimes, it's the perfect mix to hype up an excellent match. Other times, it's a word salad that has you reaching for the mute button. For example, at Aztec Warfare 3, he compared wrestler Joey Ryan to not wiping properly and getting poop on your finger.

But I'll still take that over Vampiro's one-sided phone sex hotline.
