10 Wild Outside Bets To Win Wrestler Of The Year 2022

1. El Generico

There's some confusion over when Sami Zayn's WWE contract expires. While it was originally thought to be late 2021, March 2022 has since been reported, owing to time added on through injuries.

Like his former tag team partner, Kevin Owens, there's every chance Zayn could end up renewing with a promotion that has booked him as a prominent midcard player never short of screentime over the past couple of years. Doing so all but removes him from the WOTY conversation, as it's tough to enter that field in WWE without a prolonged main event push.

But if he leaves, and resumes the El Generico gimmick, Rami Sebei is in for a hell of a year.

Switching to Sami Zayn for WWE's cavernous basketball arenas was a wise choice that got him over with a different breed of fans. That said, if Generico put the mask back on, grabbed that Bouncing Souls MP3, and hit wrestling's other stages, he'd be a cult hero once more, commanding monstrous reactions on every stage in every town.

Provided Sebei still has the drive for a big singles run, he can resume his role as a first-class babyface. Or, should he and one Mr. Steen wish to continue their association, Steenerico can immediately become a top tag team wherever they land.
