10 Wild Wrestling Plans That Were JUST NOW Discovered
1. The Original Forbidden Door Opener
Bonus positive entry!
Now, this is a subjective theory rather than a revelation, but it's quite robust - and bittersweet.
The Forbidden Door opener was incredible; a lengthy affair so fantastic that it hinted towards a stunning future for a company, NJPW, that isn't enjoying a time of great critical acclaim, it also functioned to get Wheeler YUTA over in defeat in addition to Shota Umino. The Jericho/YUTA exchanges were fabulous, and commanded a standing ovation within seconds as a result of Jericho's genius instincts. He sensed that fans were big into YUTA's multiple Germans spot, and a moment after calling a fifth on the fly, the entire United Center were on their feet.
As with so much else on the card, it was a compromise.
CM Punk was meant to work Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event, not Jon Moxley. Mox only got the nod, and smashed the ever-living sh*t out of the nod, when Punk was stricken with a knee injury.
So where does that leave Mox in the original plan?
Having already smashed through the viable New Japan Dads, and with Tetsuya Naito too politically complex to deliver a satisfying finish, it leaves him standing alongside SHOOTER in the middle of the ring cocking the guns as Mox and Jake Hager made the opener an eight-man.
We were deprived the most wholesome "post"-pandemic sight in wrestling, so it's just as well YUTA had more than earned his spot in the Blackpool Combat Club.
